The hot towel shave is the most relaxing service we offer, and it's one of the oldest traditions in barbering. A hot towel softens the beard and opens the pores, a straight razor gives a closer shave than any blade at home can, and a cold towel finish closes the skin back up.
At The Dominicans, our barbers are trained in the traditional straight razor technique - the same method barbers have used for over a century. Whether you're getting a full face shave, a head shave, or a beard line cleanup, the result is skin that stays smooth for longer than a cartridge shave.
Hot towel shaves start at $30 and take about 30 minutes. It's the perfect service before an event, a wedding, or just a Sunday reset - and it pairs perfectly with a haircut for the full experience.
The Hot Towel Shave, Step by Step
We start with a hot towel wrapped around your face to soften the beard and relax you - most clients say this alone is worth the visit. Then we apply shaving cream, shave with the grain and then against it for the closest possible finish, and finish with a cold towel and aftershave to close the pores.
The straight razor removes hair at the skin line, which means no stubble shadow and a smoother feel than any multi-blade razor can give you. The result lasts a day or two longer than a home shave.
