A shape-up (also called a line-up or edge-up) is the quickest refresh in barbering. Instead of a full haircut, we clean up your hairline, sharpen your neckline, and line the edges so your last cut looks brand new again - all in about 15 minutes.
At The Dominicans, shape-ups are one of our most common walk-in services. Guys come in between full haircuts to keep their hairline sharp for work, an event, or just because a fresh line makes you feel like a new person. Our barbers use straight razor and trimmer technique to get the crispest possible edge.
Shape-ups start at $15 and take about 15 minutes. Walk in any day of the week - we're open 8:40 AM to 9:00 PM, with 24 barbers on the floor and short waits.
What a Shape-Up Actually Includes
A shape-up at The Dominicans includes four things: lining the hairline (straightening and sharpening the front edge), cleaning the neckline (removing stray hair below the hairline), edging the temples, and a quick check to make sure both sides are symmetrical.
We use a combination of trimmer and straight razor work, depending on your hair type and preference. The result is a hairline that looks intentional and stays sharp for one to two weeks.
When to Get a Shape-Up
Most clients get a shape-up every one to two weeks between full haircuts to keep the hairline fresh. It's the perfect service before a photoshoot, a date, a job interview, or any day you want to look sharp without spending $35+ on a full cut.
A shape-up also extends the life of your last haircut by a week or more - so if you're stretching the time between cuts, a $15 line-up is the most cost-effective way to keep looking fresh.
